Syria Matters More To Voters
Increased media attention on the Syrian migrant crisis has undoubtedly raised new concerns about the global impact of that country’s ongoing civil war, and U.S. voters are listening. But does that mean the United States should take a more active role in stemming the violence?
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone finds that 47% of Likely U.S. Voters now believe that Syria is a vital national security interest to the United States. That’s up 20 points from May of last year and 12 points from August 2013 after the United States announced it had proof that the Syrian government used chemical weapons against its own people. Thirty percent (30%) do not think Syrian is a vital national security interest, but another 23% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on September 16-17, 2015 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
