What America Thinks: Is It Holiday Shopping Season Already? - With Black Friday just a week away, are Americans gearing up to start their holiday shopping? In the days before Thanksgiving last year, 43% had already started their shopping for the season, up from 34% the year before and the most early-starters in several years. For the past two years, roughly 15% have said they would spend more on gifts than in previous years.

Our most recent Consumer Spending Monitor finds that only 32% of Americans expect to spend more over the next month, with just slightly more (36%) anticipating added expenses. Still, with the election over and the stock market at record highs, some may be changing their minds. We'll find out for sure on Monday when Rasmussen Reports releases its first holiday shopping numbers for the year.
