Howard Dean to Middle Class: Taxes Go Up or Programs Get Cut (Video)
Former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Howard Dean, speaking with Scott Rasmussen on What America Thinks,
said that “somebody has to tell the middle class that either your taxes are going to go up or your programs are going to get cut or else we're going to go into financial oblivion, and nobody really wants to tell them that.”
What America Thinks
is a nationally syndicated television show hosted by Scott Rasmussen. It airs on 61 stations nationwide. Find a station near you.
Dean also said:
- "Inside Washington, people lose all their perspective and they end up getting sucked into this Washington culture which is pretty much unlike anything else in the country."
- "There's a tremendous debate going on inside the Republican party about how to deal with this problem they have that they bought into in 1968 with the Southern Strategy, and now they're going to have to unbuy it and it's not going to be easy"
- "People don't like government spending, but they don't want to cut anything because they like all the programs government spending buys them."
- "This younger generation that's propelled Barack Obama into the presidency and has kept him there, really does want bipartisan stuff. I think the president has his finger on what the American people want, at least with the younger generation."
