Americans Have Bleak Outlook on Race Relations This MLK Day

This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Americans aren’t particularly optimistic about the state of race relations in this country today.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just one-in-four (25%) rate race relations in America today as good or excellent, though that’s up slightly from previous surveys. Thirty-three percent (33%) rate relations in the country today as poor, up from 28% a year ago. The survey of 1,000 American Adults was conducted on January 16-17, 2019 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
