Canada, Great Britain Still Top American Allies

Canada and Great Britain are still viewed by most as America’s top allies, and more Americans view Germany and Japan that way.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 89% of American Adults say Canada is an ally of the United States, while three percent (3%) feel it’s an enemy.  Four percent (4%) say they are somewhere in between.   (To see survey question wording, click here).

These findings show little change from surveys dating back to 2006.

Drawing  an equal amount of support is Great Britain, viewed as an ally by 88% of Americans.  Two percent (2%) think the European nation is an enemy, while five percent (5%) say it’s somewhere in between.

The number of Americans who see Great Britain as an ally is unchanged from August 2010, but is up 12 points from March 2006 when 76% felt that way.
